So far the marines had only pulled some basic pranks, nothing harmful, just more signatures on their PT Warrants. Still, an escape from the pranks would be nice and there was one place where no one in the unit could go that their acting commander could.

Daniel walked into the Officer's Lounge, it often acted as a mess hall and right now it acted as a 'pranking privates stay out.' He spotted the captain sitting alone and figured it was as good a seat as any, "Mind if I sit here?"

Tobias looked up. "Have a seat."

Daniel sat down and shook his head, more or less trying to shake loose the pranks. "Sir, you ever have someone bent on pranking you?" he asked, "I've got a pack down there that won't give it a rest, so far I've had the living PT hell given to em' and they still won't stop."

"I can't say I have been pranked. I mean it has been a long time, but I was never the nicest guy to be around."

"Well, so far I've tried everything short of torture" Daniel said, "next thing is going to be spec ops training or maybe the iron man challenge. Back home with the special forces we had a saying 'you'll either get real smart real fast, or you'll be very strong until you do.'"

While the marine was facing the captain, a server carefully came up on his other side and slipped a dog bowl and dogfood in front of the marine in just the right way so it would not be heard. Rather wisely, he then made a fast retreat out of dodge before the local nuke went off.

Tobias allowed a smile to come to his face. "Did we get a new pet?"

Daniel turned and saw the dog food, about that point it was evident what control he'd had was slipping. For just a second, only a second he glowed white as a star and then returned to normal, "So help me" he grumbled, "one of these days they'll push their luck a bit too far."

"Not today, I would say."

"I wouldn't say that" Daniel replied, "last time I got angry enough to loose control of my cloak a pretty big batch of terrorists took a dirt nap."

"I would say we cannot kill our own."

Reluctantly, Daniel reached into the bowel and pulled out a piece, tasted it and just as fast spit it out. Immediately after that he made a mess of whistles and half barks that ammounted to half the Cadian curses he knew, finally in plain English he said, "yuck! I wouldn't torture someone with that!"

Tobias laughed.

"If you'll excuse me for a minute sir" Daniel said, getting up and charging for the bar to grab a potent drink to clear out the foul taste. He returned with a large mug filled with a black liquid that seemed to give off a life of its own, maybe it did. "Ugh, dirt tastes better than that."

Tobias looked at Daniel. "I will take your word for it. Is your department ready for our mission?"

"As ever, I'm trying to get some training arranged with security" Daniel said, "should double as pay back as I plan to give our guys every problem I can devise."

Tobias stood from the table. "If you will excuse me, I need to get some other work done. But my door is always open."
